So this is Thursday
And it appears that Thursday's shall forever remain just like this. Too long; too slow; too...worky.
I've been updating the vacation calendar for the office. It's a fun thing to look at on a day like today. I opened it in the full month view and scrolled through all of November. Boss goes away for two weeks starting next Monday; then Thanksgiving and a short jump on into December. That month looked even better, with extra Mondays off and parties all over the place. But then I just kept going. I scrolled further and further down, watching the recurring alerts fly by over and over. When I stopped, it was on my birthday in 2014. So all of a sudden it wasn't fun anymore. On the day I am to turn 34 I must remember to send out an eTime reminder first thing in the morning. But it's payday, so hey! I'm sure I won't stay here that long. That would be shortly after my 8th anniversary with the company, and I just don't believe this relationship is meant to last that long. If it does, I'd better not still be in a position that requires me to send out eTime reminders twice a week.

like a swift kick in the ass
Nothing like getting called out on the best new friend-blog ever to make you finally remember how to log in to your own personal corner of the meatfreezer. So no, Miya, "not updating [my] blog" is not one of the various things that I like. However, you are correct that I don't have much of an excuse now that I've discovered the wireless readily available on my inter-porch.
Anyway, I'll try to start a new pattern of reliability on this here website.
The news at the moment is that my perfect-for-one-person-and-a-cat apartment has now become the Half-way House of Dudes. I am currently playing host to a Pirate and a Beav. If anyone else needs a place, they'll have to sleep in the trunk of my car. Or somehow extract one of the other residents. Either way would work for me. Right now I'm blissfully alone, enjoying the beautiful, long-awaited autumn weather. It will soon be too chilly for the interporch, and I will once again have a valid excuse for the lack of blog posts, but for now it's ideal.
So here I am. Updating. How about, as a reward, Miya, you send out the damn wedding photos already!

because three months is too many
I don't want this to be a post about why I haven't posted. Neither do I want to make future posting promises which I may or may not be able to keep. So instead I'll just write.
The Red Sox are losing 5-1 to Detriot in the bottom of the fifth. I do not have high hopes for this game. This summer has been one ever-so-important event after another. I can think of only one weekend which did not include responsibilities to people other than myself (more often than not outside the city). So today, for the first time, I called in sick to my (still kind of) new terrific job. It's been a day of ultimate sloth and at the moment I'm keeping the dream alive in my pajamas (still) at 9:45 in the evening.
Boston has finally gotten fun again. Not quite as fun as I remembered it (in comparison to Hartford) back in the college days. More of a hard-working, go-to-sleep-early kind of fun. I still play pool from time to time but there are no tables even half as good (or as cheap) as my Seattle favorites. The House of Dudes can almost claim to have survived the summer. Not near as many barbeques as I intended, but then, the summer weather was not as I intended either. The brutal heat of July has made me damned near ready for the fall already.
I'm not going to continue to ramble in this vein. Instead, maybe I'll go for a walk. (Or maybe not.) I'll be out in Seattle in 16 days (!) and I can't wait to see everyone (except Ken, who sucks). I'm sure that much has changed in the 15 months since I last visited, and I'm trying to prepare myself for that, but mostly I'm excited to return and kick everyone's ass at pool.

Wherein the Author Becomes a Whore
Hello, my friends. I will tell you right off the bat that I have a very good reason for the paucity of posts since espana: I seem to suddenly have a real job. Granted, I have worked hard before, but I don't think I ever worked so consistently hard. I wake up earlier in the morning, have a longer commute and get home later in the evening. I ride the bus with smelly people every morning and (for the last week straight) get splashed by assholes in cars during the 20 minute walk. I have to wear nice clothes every day and they almost all have to be tailored and professionally cleaned. I have to carry an extra pair of shoes. I don't get paid for my lunch break. I can't surf the net at work. I certainly can't update my blog...
and yet I am so much happier than I've been in a awfully long time. I really like having a job that is so challenging. There are endless meetings and work and work and meetings and work, but it's all for good reasons. I was surrounded by gross incompetence for the last year and a half, so it is just thrilling to be in a place where everyone has something to do and they each know how to do it.
So anyway, blah-di blah blah. I will be very excited when the rain lets up and softball starts. In the meantime, I have posted a bunch more of the Spain pictures. (Not all of them, of course; I wouldn't want to bore you to death.) They are with the others and I don't feel like linking to them, so be a dear and scroll down to the previous post if you're interested in seeing them.
