Holy crap. It's still only the first day of TV Turn-off week and I'm already twitchy. No. Not twitchy: bored. This here new life of mine (out in the woods of Chestnut Hill) does not provide many opportunities to ignore the TV in favor of other, more wholesome pursuits. In fact, I just woke up from a "nap" to find that it's 8 pm and I ain't got shit to look forward to tonight. I already tried reading. It was good, but it'll only help for so long. I suppose I could clean my kitchen, but that hardly seems like a fun evening activity.
Seems that trouble's brewing over here. What kind of monster have I become?
Posted by liz at April 25, 2005 05:07 PMIs this a self-imposed TV-turn-off week? What about posting pics from your trip to Seattle? Hmm...well thanks for updating the blog. It gave me one moment of pure happiness at work today.
Posted by: Melanie at April 26, 2005 01:26 PMAh, the pics. Well here's what happened: I have the camera, and the camera has the pics, but somewhere along the line I lost the cable that connects my camera to my computer in order to remove the pics. Genius, I know.
TV Turn-Off week is an annual event created and advertized but the Adbusters crew (just like Buy Nothing day, but far less popular or visible). So while to a certain degree this is self-imposed (to the degree that I could just say fuck it and turn on the TV); it's also an idea that I support and would very much like to pull off.
That said, it's hard to avoid television in Boston bars during baseball season.
Posted by: liz at April 27, 2005 08:10 AMSo, did you keep the TV off all week??
Posted by: melanie at May 4, 2005 04:52 PMHehehehe, that's sweet.....no.
